Results of todays four title events at JWSC in Vuokatti

It was a busy day at JWSC 2021 in Vuokatti. Due to the previousely postponed Sprint competition, the distance races of U23 and U20 took place on the same day. Poland, Russia, France and Norway bring home todays victories.

With the U20 5km and 10km as well as the U23 10km and 15km, four medal events were on Friday’s agenda. The first victory of the day went to Russia's Veronika Stepanova who took a clear victory in the 5km F with a margin of incredible 16.5 seconds to her team colleague Evgeniya Krupitskaya. Stepanova was thrilled about the double Russian podium: ”It was an amazing day. Hard race, but I really liked it. My team is working well. I really wanted to win today and I did it.” The womens U20 podium gets completed by Margrethe Bergane from Norway.

The mens U20 distance competition saw a Norwegian victory with Martin Kirkeberg Moerk. In the tough race in temperatures still well below 0, Moerk raced out a 14 second margin to second ranked Alexander Stahlberg from Finland and Olivier Leveille from Canada who takes the third rank.

In the U23 categories, the title of World Champions were taken by Isabela Marcisz from Poland and Hugo Lapalus from France. Both regular competitors in the World Cup saw a strong competitor field but raced out a clear victory in the end. The womens 10km F podium gets completed by Louise Lindstroem (SWE) and Hedda Oestberg Amundsen (NOR). The mens podium sees Friedrich Moch from Germany taking the second place before Norwegian Iver Tildheim Andersen.
