Sweden's coach set up for the next Olympic term
Apr 22, 2022·Cross-CountryAs the Swedish Ski Federation communicated today, only one major change will occur in the team set-up as of this Spring.
The national team's coaching staff is undergoing change, but continues with long-term perspective and continuity as key words. With a stable coaching trio at its core, the organization is now aiming four years ahead for the Olympics in Cortina 2026.
The 2021/2022 season is coming to an end, which also means that the national team organization sets a coaching foundation for the coming years. Anders Högberg, Lars Ljung and Stefan Thomson will remain as national team coaches and thus continue in their previous roles with newly signed four-year contracts. "It feels very good that we get to continue the work we have started together in the coaching team and that we can now think long-term towards the upcoming championships," says national team manager Anders Byström.
Women's coach Magnus Ingesson chooses to move on and thus does not extend his contract. A decision that he himself describes as a process.
"It has not been an easy decision. I have thought for a long time but finally ended up going back to my job as a police officer where I was on leave," says Magnus Ingesson.
He has been assigned as a women's coach since 2018. But Ingesson has been associated with the cross-country national team for much longer than that, with assignments as national team coach during the period 2007–2010 and as a personal trainer for several active players, including Charlotte Kalla.
