First days of the Junior & U23 WCS Whistler (CAN)
Feb 02, 2023·Cross-CountryThe first competition days of the FIS Junior and U23 World Ski Championships is now in the history books. Whistler in Canada is this years host, and there has been amazing pictures that we have recived from the competitions.
It has been four amazing days so far, and this is the competitions that has been uintil now:
Sprint junior and U23 - Woman and Men
Mass start Classic Junior and U23 - Woman and Men
Sprint results:
In the Women’s 1.2km Classic Sprint Final for the juniors, Finland’s Eevi-Inkeri Tossavainen won the gold, followed by Norway’s Milla Grosberghaugen Andreassen (+0.14), and Sweden’s Lisa Eriksson (+0.20).
In the Men’s 1.2km Classic Sprint Final for the juniors, Sweden’s skiers Anton Grahn and Elias Danielsson (+1.08) won the gold and silver respectively, and Finland’s Eero Rantala (+1.16) won the bronze.
U23
In the Women´s U23km Classic Sprint Final, Finland´s Jasmin Kahara won the gold, followed by Norway´s Kristin Austgulen Fosnæs (+0.71, and Sigrid Leseth Foeyen (+1.16) from Sweden.
In the Men´s U23km Classic Sprint Final, Norway´s Ansgar Evensen took the gold, in front of Sweden´s men´s on silver and bronze, George Ersson (+0.80) and Emil Danielsson (+0.82).
Mass start
In the Men´s Mass Start Classic Race for the Juniors, the gold also went to Norway and this time it was Mathias Holbæk who was first. Niko Anttola from Finland took silver and was (+7,7) behind the gold. The bronze also went to Norway and for Kristian Kollerud (+28,1)
In the Woman´s Mass Start Classic Race for the Juniors, Milla Grosberghaugen Andreassen took the gold infront of Lisa Eriksson (+21,2) from Sweden. The bronze went to Finland for Eevi-Inkeri Tossavainen (+33,9)
In the Women’s U23 Mass Start Classic Race, Norway’s Kristin Austgulen Fosnaes finished in first place, Germany’s Lisa Lohmann came in second place (+2.3), and Norway’s Margrethe Bergane took third place (+7.2).
In the Men’s U23 Mass Start Classic, the top 3 were very close: Norway’s Jonas Vika won gold, followed closely by his Norwegian teammate Edvard Sandvick (+1.3) taking silver, and France’s Julien Arnaud (+3.6) coming in behind for the bronze.
