Alfio Di Gregorio has passed away
Jul 03, 2023·Cross-CountryWith the passing of Alfio Di Gregorio, the Cross-Country and Rollerskier family world lost a thoroughly passionate athlete that was part of an era of skiers, who influenced Cross-Country and specialy Rollerski profoundly.
His competitive history begins in Nicolosi, in Sicily, where Di Gregorio was born on 8 April 1970. But it is only by moving to the province of Vicenza that he finds a way to express all his value. A dry physique but with a great "engine", and the will to emerge both in roller skiing and in cross-country skiing. Roller skis that were in their infancy in Italy when Di Gregorio began, but which already boasted prominent athletes such as Gianfranco Borriero. It was he who discovered the promise of the island, who later became one of the world leaders in roller skiing.
As early as 1986 he entered the national team at the time not yet included in the orbit of Coni (roll ski, as a discipline, will enter the Federpattinaggio only a few years later) but already engaged in international comparisons. He was also a cross-country skier, obtaining important results especially in marathon races and in the Citizens circuit, but his realm is roller skiing.

The FIS Cross-Country family sends our deepest condolences to his family and ski friends.
