It was in the beginning of last week that Sjur Røthe announced that the 50 km in Holmenkollen was the last one for him in the World Cup as a professional athlete. Røthe who had his first World Cup in Trondheim back in 2009, can look back at 218 World Cup starts, 28 podiums and 6 World Cup victories.

His best World Championship took place in Seefeld, where Sjur Røthe took two gold and one bronze medal. Gold in the relay togheter with his teammates, and a bronze in the 50 km. Seefeld was also the place he took his only individual gold, that happened on the 30 km skiathlon.

13 years on the national Cross-Country team has offered me a lot. A lot of ups and down but most importantly an incredible number of memorable experiences with my best friends.Sjur Røthe on his instagram.

15 years in the World Cup is a long time, and Sjur Røthe can look back at a lot of great achivments. But most importantly, Sjur is a man that we will remember as a role model and we will miss him in the World Cup - best of luck in the next phase of your live and thanks for the memories!
