The FIS Seminar for cross-country Technical Delegates (TD´s) was held in Trondheim from the 20th October to October 22nd. Trondheim is also set to host the next Nordic World Ski Championships (WSC) from 26th February to 9th of March.

The seminar drew 40 participants from 9 different nations, primarily from the two regions: Scandinavia/Baltic and Western Europe. At the conclusion of the seminar, 6 candidates received their FIS TD licenses and these candidates included 3 from Scandinavia and 3 from Western Europe.

7 speakers from both regions have given their speeches, and among them the FIS CC Race Director and Race Director Assistant Michal Lamplot and Simon Caprini, together with a special guest: the World Cup athlete Sindre Bjørnestad Skar, who took part to the usual video session bringing the athlete’s point of view. The new topics covered at the seminar, such as the fluor ban implementation, homologation procedure and software, and the introduction to Para Nordic, reflect the evolving landscape of cross-country skiing.

There are two more FIS TD Seminars scheduled:

  • Central Eastern Europe TDs Seminar from November 3rd to November 5th in Zlatibor, Serbia.

  • Far East TDs Seminar from November 1st to November 12th in Nagano, Japan.

  • Additionally, there will be an online session dedicated to Para Nordic competitions on November 24th.

These seminars and sessions play a crucial role in training and certifying Technical Delegates, ensuring the smooth and fair conduct of cross-country skiing events, and keeping officials and athletes updated on the latest developments and regulations in the sport.
