Decisions of the 54th International Ski Congress

The 54th International Ski Congress was held on 25th May online. The day included a full agenda with many decisions in regards to the FIS Statutes made by the General Assembly. Below is recap of the main decisions. The Congress is also available to watch on the FIS You Tube Channel.

Key Decisions approved by the FIS Congress

The following proposals were approved by the delegates at the General Assembly:

Statutory Updates

Several updates and amendments to the FIS Statutes were approved by the General Assembly. The most notable of these amendments were the adoption of the FIS Independent Ethics and Compliance Officer and the FIS Ethics Committee. Additionally, an athlete coming from para snow sports will be appointed to join the FIS Council, brining the total number of athlete representatives on the Council to three.

Athletes’ Commission Council Representatives

As per the FIS Statutes, two FIS Athletes’ Commission representatives serve on the FIS Council with full voting rights. Following the election of the new Athletes’ Commission this winter, two new Athletes’ Commission Council representatives were approved by the Congress: Alex Fiva (Ski Cross-Switzerland) and Verena Stuffer (Alpine- Italy). The para representative will be named at a later date.

Olympic Winter Games and FIS World Championships

The Congress received reports from the Youth Olympic Winter Games in Gangwon (KOR) 2024 and the 2026 Olympic Winter Games Cortina-Milano (ITA).

The recently concluded FIS World Championships in Alpine, Nordic and Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski also provided their final reports to the Congress.

Financial and administrative decisions

As part of the statutory business the Congress approved the accounts and reports of the auditors from the previous financial period.
