The Norwegian Ski Association has nominated four out of their five athletes for the upcoming FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, which take place in Seefeld (AUT) in late February.

- Espen Bjørnstad
- Jørgen Graabak
- Jan Schmid
- Jarl Magnus Riiber

have gotten the green light to represent Norway at the championships.

Sports Director Ivar Stuan: “We are sending a strong World Championship team to Seefeld. Espen, Jørgen, Jan and Jarl are all candidates for medals and we wanted to give them the chance to be optimally prepared.”

With Graabak and Schmid, two athletes already have extensive World Championship experience and medals to show for while Jarl Riiber and Espen Bjørnstad will make their debuts.

“It is fantastic to get the go now”, says Bjørnstad, who claimed his first-ever podium result this weekend. “This season has been a fairy tale for me. The main reason is that I have improved on the jumping hill and also taken a step in the cross-country part”.

The fifth and final ticket to go to Seefeld will be on the line in the home World Cup in Trondheim on the upcoming weekend. Espen Andersen, Magnus Krog, Magnus Moan and Jens Lurås Oftebro fight for the last starting place.

“It’s a special situation that we are finding ourselves in. It can become a real thriller. Espen (Andersen) and both Magnus Moan and Magnus Krog have medals from earlier championships but two of them will definitely not go to the championships this year. We also have an opening for our junior Jens to get the last place”, the Sports Director Stuan confirms.

UPDATE: After his performances in Trondheim, Magnus Krog has been given the last place on the World Championship team.
