Mixed Team: Germany takes home-victory in Oberwiesenthal

Team Germany 1 is the winner of the Mixed Team event in Oberwiesenthal (GER) today.

The local heros were already in the lead after the Ski Jumping round and defended their first place during the race.

32 competitors from 7 nations were on start for the Ski Jumping round of today’s Mixed Team event. 
In rainy conditions at the HS 105 Fichtelbergschanze, Germany 1 showed a strong team performance. 
Johannes Rydzek (101 m), Nathalie Armbruster (102.5 m), Jenny Nowak (97 m) and Julian Schmid (97.5 m) collected a total of 118.5 points and were in the lead after the Ski Jumping round.

Rank 2 was taken by team Italy. Domenico Mariotti (100 m), Annika Sieff (94.5 m), Daniela Dejori (92.5 m) and Samuel Costa (98.5 m) collected 112.9 points and started the race 22 seconds after the leaders from Germany.

Team Austria placed third with 110.7 points. Philipp Orter (94 m), Annalena Slamik (95.5 m), Lisa Hirner (91 m) and Martin Fritz (99.5 m) went into the rollerski race with a 31 second backlog.

The 15 kilometer race (2x 2.5 km, 2x 5km) took place in heavy rain at the Sparkasse Skiarena in the evening.

Germanys Julian Schmid went into the race first, but couldn’t keep the 22 second lead over Samuel Costa, who reduced the distance to 11.6 seconds after 5 km. 
Annika Sieff lost some seconds on the wet rollerski course through the Sparkasse Skiarena and handed over to Daniela Dejori with a 24.5 second backlog on the Germans. 
Also Austria lost some time on the track and was 43.5 seconds behind at the second exchange.

Meanwhile, Nathalie Armbruster ran a strong race in the front, building up the distance to the pursuers from Italy to 46.4 seconds at the final exchange after 12.5 km. 
Finland fought its way from rank 6 up to the fourth place, being only 4 seconds behind Austria at the final exchange.

In the end the Martin Fritz could defend his teams podium position, while Italy took the second rank (+1:07.7 min). 
Johannes Rydzek secured the first place for Germany 1, reaching the finish line with a souvereign lead despite the difficult wet conditions.
