Slovenia's Ursa Bogataj is the 2022 Olympic champion in women's Ski Jumping. After Carina Vogt (GER / 2014) and Maren Lundby (NOR / 2018), Bogataj crowned herself the third Olympic champion in this discipline with jumps of 108 m and 100 m. Katharina Althaus (GER) won silver, Nika Kriznar (SLO) took the bronze medal.

The 40 athletes showed a great performance on the HS 106 hill in the Zhangjiakou National Ski Jumping Center of Beijing. Jumps on the highest level and excitement until the very end, it was a promotion for women's Ski Jumping, which was part of the Olympic Games for the third time.

Bogataj still lacks a World Cup win but is now Olympic champion.
The 26-year-old was second two times so far in the World Cup (Nizhny Tagil and Ljubno) and she has proven her great skills by winning the overall title of the Summer Grand Prix 2021. Katharina Althaus was in the lead after the first round, but with a 94 m jump in the final, she came in 2.2 points behind the strong Slovene.

Nika Kriznar won the competition in Willingen (GER) last weekend and was last winter's overall World Cup champion. Today she once again showed that she is currently in great shape.

Sara Takanashi of Japan finished fourth, the outstanding team performance of Slovenia was completed by Ema Klinec in fifth and Spela Rogelj in ninth. Silje Opseth of Norway was seventh, followed by Russia's Irina Avvakumova.

The overall World Cup leader Marita Kramer of Austria could not compete due to a positive Covid-test. The two former Olympic champions are also not in Beijing: Carina Vogt could not qualify for the German Olympic team, defending champion Maren Lundby is not competing this season.

The second competition for the women is the mixed team event on Monday at 12:45 pm CET.
