Big Air season gets underway in Milan
Aug 31, 2018·Freeski Park & PipeFollowing last weekend’s thrilling snowboard event, the 2017/18 FIS Freeski big air World Cup season is set to get underway this weekend with the second iteration of the highly-anticipated 'Big Air and the City' competition taking to Milan’s (ITA) EXPeriance Park for training on Friday and competition on Saturday night.
The former site of Milan’s Expo 2015, EXPerience Park established itself as one of the most exciting new venues on tour last season, located as it is just 10kms from the centre of Italy’s second largest city, and with the incredible backdrop of the Tree of Life rising up in front of the athletes who will be dropping in on the 40m high competition ramp.
Just ahead of Saturday’s competition, the startlist is looking strong for this season’s 'Big Air and the City' in Milan, with the likes of Giula Tanno (SUI), Johanne Killi (NOR) Coline Ballet Baz (FRA) and Silvia Bertagna (ITA) ready to heat it up in the ladies competition, and Elias Ambuehl (SUI), Andri Ragettli (SUI), Oystein Braaten (NOR) Felix Stridsberg-Usterud (NOR) and Noah Wallace (USA) looking to contend for top spots in the men's event.
Training in Milan gets underway on Friday, 17 November, running from 15:30 - 20:30CET, immediately followed by a performance from hit-making Italian artist Baby K. Saturday’s big air World Cup competition will begin with qualifications running from 11:00CET, followed by finals under the lights in EXPerience Park beginning at 19:00.
The Milan competition is the first of the first big air World Cup of the 2017/18 season after unforeseeable issues forced the cancellation of scheduled events in El Colorado (CHI) in August, and in Copenhagen (DEN) earlier in November.
