PyoengChang (KOR) - Men's aerials world champion Jonathon Lillis (USA) and Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games silver medallist David Morris (AUS) are a step closer to a podium finish after Lillis qualified directly for the finals with a top score of 127.44.

MORRIS missed out on a spot in the top six after scoring 112.83 in the first qualification, but his second jump scored 124.89 to deliver him a finals berth.

"I don't think in my career I've seen such a qualifying with such high-quality jumps," Lillis said.

Morris believes the high qualifying scores will make for an exciting finals round on Sunday.

"That will be an epic final. You're going to see some really good jumps to get a medal this way around."

Sochi 2014 gold medallist Anton Kushnir (BLR) will miss the finals after finishing seventh in the second qualification.

The men's aerials finals begin at 20:00 on Sunday.
