Sildaru and Braaten nominated for ESPY awards
Aug 31, 2018·Freeski Park & PipeFreestyle skiers Kelly Sildaru (EST) and Oystein Braaten (NOR) have been nominated for the prestigious ESPY awards which will take place on July 12 in Los Angeles with NFL superstar Peyton Manning being the host of the show.
Sildaru and Braaten are both nominated for the Best Action Sports Athlete award.
While the 15-year-old from Estonia will face snowboarder Anna Gasser (AUT), Australia's surfing hero Tyler Wright and US skateboarder Lacey Baker in the viewers vote, Braaten will go heads up with snowboarder Mark McMorris (CAN), US skater Nyjah Huston and surfer John John Florence (USA).
Sildaru was recognised for her superb 2016-17 season when she not only grabbed Gold in the slopestyle and halfpipe events of the junior world championships at the age of 15.
The first woman to ever land a switch 1260 mute and a 1440 during a competition also took home the Gold from the X Games this winter.
Braaten is also looking back on some outstanding results which finally earned him his ESPY nomination.
In five out of six Big Air World Cup events, the 21-year-old Viking clinched top-6 results and also claimed slopestyle Gold at the last X Games.
