International top riders, a top-class snowpark and exciting competitions: From 20 to 24 November 2018, the Stubai Glacier at Tyrol, Austria, will once again be the centre of the freeski world.

The FIS Freeski slopestyle World Cup Stubai will take place for the second time in the Snowpark DC Stubai Zoo presenting spectacular freeski action at the highest level. Around 120 starters from over 20 nations are expected to come down to Austria for the first slopestyle World Cup of the season.

The slopestyle season kicks off with a hefty total prize money of CHF 50,000; CHF 25,000 each for men and women. It will also be the first opportunity in 2018/2019 for riders to collect World Cup ranking points in order to qualify for the upcoming World Championships in Park City, Utah, USA, in February 2019.

The successful premiere in 2017 and the extraordinary snowpark highly appreciated by the athletes, guarantee a first-class international starting field. With the recently crowned Slopestyle Junior World Champion Kelly Sildaru (16) from Estonia, the Austrian team around local hero Laura Wallner (19) from Neustift as well as Kea Kühnel and Florian Preuss from Freeski Germany, the first entries are already confirmed. The official starting list will be published by mid-October.

“The Stubai Freeski World Cup is the perfect start to the season in Europe. Riders from all nations spend a lot of time at the Stubai Zoo in autumn because it offers one of the best setups in the world, and because it is located on the sunny side of the Stubai Glacier amidst breathtaking mountain scenery,” says Florian Preuss, who is looking forward to the competition in his second home where he spends at least four weeks every autumn and spring.

The location on the glacier at over 3,000 metres enables the organisers together with ÖSV and Freeski Austria to offer the participants a snow park that is unique at the start of the season. The athletes can expect a perfect slopestyle course with demanding kickers and rails on the pro-line of the DC Stubai Zoo.

“The kickers are very smooth and the Pro-Line generally has a good flow,” enthuses Laura Wallner. “The World Cup at the Stubai Zoo means a lot to me because my friends and family are there”.

Many of the freeski pros also spend time at the Stubai Glacier before and after the FIS Freeski World Cup Stubai for training: From 24 October to 18 November and from 27 November to 6 December 2018, they will practice their tricks for the upcoming season at the Stubai Prime Park Sessions at DC Stubai Zoo.
