Over the last few days we’ve been taking a look back at the some of the finest freeski halfpipe runs of a historic 2023/24 halfpipe World Cup season on social media the past few days, including several runs that may not have got the hype they deserved at the time.

From a winner’s perspective, this past season was all about two athletes - China’s Eileen Gu and Alex Ferreira of the USA.

While 2023/24 was reigning Olympic gold medalist Gu’s first full competition campaign since her legendary 2021/22 season, the 20-year-old showed absolutely no signs of rust, winning the first halfpipe World Cup of the winter back at the 2022 Olympic pipe in Secret Garden (CHN), and finishing the season off with the highest halfpipe score of her career in Calgary (CAN) to secure her second career crystal globe.

Were it not for a weather-shortened event in Mammoth Mountain (USA), where Gu would finish second to Amy Fraser (CAN) when qualification results ended up standing as final results, there’s a strong likelihood that Gu would have swept the World Cup calendar last season.

As for Ferreira, sweeping the World Cup calendar is just what the 29-year-old did, as the three-time Olympic medallist put on an absolute clinic at every event of the season, while also matching Gu with a 97.00 score for victory at the final event in Calgary.

Throw in wins at the X Games and the Dew Tour, and what you have in Alex Ferreira’s 2023/24 winter is, quite simply, the greatest freeski halfpipe season of all-time.

However, with so much attention on Gu and Ferreira in 2023/24, we figured the summer is a good time to take a look at some of the other standouts of this past winter. With Fraser, Zoe Atkin and Hannah Faulhaber all putting together some outstanding skiing for the women, and the likes of World Cup rookie Luke Harrold, Hunter Hess, Brendan Mackay and Jon Sallinen providing us with some thrilling moments on the men’s side, there’s plenty of memorable moments for you to revisit.

Enjoy!
