Micha Gassser ends career
Aug 31, 2018·Freestyle26-year-old Mischa Gasser has decided to retire from competitive skiing. Representing Swiss Ski aerials team on the FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup tour since 2011, Gasser competed in three world championships and two Olympic Winter Games (placing 18th in Sochi and 11th in PyeognChang). On the World Cup tour the Swiss athlete achieved six top 10 finishes, with his best result coming in 2015, when he placed sixth both in Moscow and Minsk.
“For sever years I’ve been struggling with mental difficulties that I could not fully overcome and be able to take 100% of the risk,” Micha Gassere explained his decision, “More and more I’m willing to change my focus on studying and I’ve come to a conclusion that after 15 years of competing on top-level (gymnastics, trampoline and aerials) it’s time to end this wonderful and enriching period of life and start a new one. I hope equally good one.”
Aerials team head coach Michel Roth will enter 2018/19 season with a squad of nine athletes. Team leader Dimitri Isler and Junior World Champion Noé Roth will represent Swiss Ski in the A-squad.
