Almaty ready to host moguls & aerials season grand finale

After four exciting months of the FIS Freestyle Ski Moguls & Aerials World Cup tour, it all comes down to the final stop of the season in Kazakhstan, where the top women and men of 2022/23 will face off one last time in single and dual moguls as well as aerials competitions scheduled to take place in Almaty’s Shymbulak Ski Resort this upcoming Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 17-19.

And there’s plenty of reasons to get excited for the final three competitions of the season, with a stacked field of athletes on hand in here in Almaty, a perfectly prepared course and World Cup crystal globes, Nations Cups and Rookie of the Year awards up for grabs once the season comes to a close on Sunday.

The Kazakhstan Ski Association has put in an enormous amount of effort to host this major event and now here we are ready to kick off with the final competitions of the 2022/23 season.

Shymbulak, which will host both aerials and moguls competitions, is one of the most modern mountain resorts in Central Asia with a rich history of hosting sporting events. Also with the start section of the brand new moguls course “Yuka G” located at 2750 meters above the sea level, the venue at Shymbulak boasts the highest elevation on the entire FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup tour. The highest peaks of the surrounding resort, meanwhile, reach over 4500 meters above sea level, and with its modern infrastructure and enormous big mountain terrain surrounding the resort, Shymbulak holds all the pieces to soon became a top-level destination for ski enthusiast from all around the World.

Looking back at the successful events held at Shymbulak during the 2017 Winter Universiade, three editions of moguls & aerials World Cup competitions in 2019, 2020 and 2021 as well as the 2021 FIS Freestyle Ski World Championships, it’s fair to expect that also the 2022/23 World Cup finals will deliver a remarkable showcase of world’s best aerials and moguls freestyle action.

The event in Almaty will start on Friday with moguls finals at 14:30 local time, with dual moguls following up on Saturday at 14:30, and the aerials event wrapping up the weekend with finals also scheduled at 14:30.
