ANC Moguls spectacle unfolds in style at Perisher
Aug 30, 2023·FreestyleMoguls enthusiasts on the opposite side of the globe were treated to an electrifying spectacle as Perisher, Australia's premier venue, played host to a series of exhilarating Continental Cup competitions on August 29th.
The stage was set at Perisher Ski Resort, where over 60 athletes converged for the Moguls Australian Championships. Toppa's Run, a renowned venue, bore witness to an array of talents representing nations like Australia, Japan, Great Britain, USA, The Netherlands, Korea, Germany, and South Africa.
Australia's pride, Jakara Anthony, dominated the women's events, clinching two gold medals with astounding performances. In the first event, Japan's Rino Yanagimoto secured silver, while her compatriot Haruka Ihara stood proudly on the podium with the bronze. Ihara's brilliance continued as she claimed silver in the second event, followed by her teammate Haruka Nakao, who secured the third spot.
Shifting the spotlight to the men's competition, Australia's Cooper Woods emerged as the standout performer in the first event. However, it was Japan's Take Nishizawa and Great Britain's William Finely who secured the second and third positions, respectively, creating an international podium.
The excitement escalated in the second competition, where Australia's Jackson Harvey seized the coveted top spot, leaving his mark on the mountain. Harvey's compatriot, Cooper Woods, was a force to be reckoned with, securing the second position. Japan once again made its presence felt with remarkable performance from Shima Kawaoka, who finished in third.
The event at Perisher was a testament to the global appeal of moguls, with athletes from five different continents to showcase their skills and tenacity on the slopes. As Jakara Anthony, Cooper Woods, Jackson Harvey and other athletes celebrated their triumphs, the Australia and New Zealand Cup at Perisher left an indelible mark as a melting pot of talent and passion.
