After two weeks of action in Finland and Sweden, the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup moguls tour resumed on Friday in France, marking its third consecutive weekend of competition. Australian Jakara Anthony and Canadian Mikael Kingsbury clinched victories in the moguls event, kicking off an exciting weekend at the esteemed Alpe d’Huez venue.

Friday's weather was ideal, with clear blue skies and mild temperatures, creating a spring-like atmosphere in mid-December. The excellent snow conditions and challenging course provided a stunning backdrop for a display of top-tier mogul skiing.

In the women's event, Jakara Anthony dominated, winning each round and scoring 79.98 points in her super final run. Anthony's performance solidified her as the day's top female athlete, with superior scores in both turns and air.

This victory marks Anthony’s third consecutive single moguls win in the 2023/24 season and her fourth at Alpe d’Huez. American skiers Jaelin Kauf and Olivia Giaccio finished second and third, respectively, with Giaccio achieving her third top-3 finish this season.

Anthony leads the moguls World Cup rankings with a perfect 300 points. Giaccio follows in second place with 180 points, and Japan's Rino Yanagimoto is third with 170 points. Anthony also tops the overall moguls World Cup standings, with Kauf now surpassing Yanagimoto for second place.

On the men's side, Mikael Kingsbury secured his third straight victory. Like the previous week in Idre, Kingsbury excelled in both qualifiers and final rounds, scoring 86.55 points. His flawless turns and high jump scores allowed him to triumph without pushing for time.

Elliot Vaillancourt, another Canadian, celebrated his 40th World Cup start with his first podium finish in second place. Japan's Ikuma Horishima claimed third, marking his third top-3 finish of the season.

Kingsbury continues to lead in both moguls and dual moguls standings, with Horishima and Sweden's Walter Wallberg in second and third positions, respectively.

The Alpe d’Huez event continues on Saturday with the season's second dual moguls competition, starting with preliminary rounds at 10:45 CET and culminating in the finals at 13:30 CET.
