In a stunning display of skill and teamwork, the USA emerged victorious in the mixed team dual moguls at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG). The team, led by moguls prodigy Elizabeth Lemley, showcased their dominance in the sport, clinching gold on Friday.

Eighteen-year-old Lemley, already boasting four FIS World Cup podium finishes, lived up to her reputation by setting up teammate Porter Huff with a significant lead in the 'big final' against South Korea's talented duo Yun Shinee and Lee Yoon Seung.

“It feels amazing, like a dream come true,” exclaimed Huff, visibly elated after securing the gold. “Liz's performance always boosts our confidence. Her ability to consistently deliver top-notch runs makes her a one-of-a-kind athlete. I'm thrilled to have such a talented partner.”

Lemley's performance, which left the USA 23 points ahead of South Korea, set the stage for Huff. Although he crossed the finish line just behind Lee, his clean run was enough to secure the top spot on the podium. The judges awarded the USA duo 43 points, outpacing the Korean team's 27.

Lee, despite his strong performance, graciously accepted the silver medal. “It's an honor to share this podium with my teammate and friend Yun,” Lee said. “Our two years of training together as national team members have really paid off.”

The journey to the big final was not without drama. The South Korean team nearly missed their chance after a mix-up in the semifinal results. Initially, it was announced that they had lost to the second USA pair, Abby McLarnon and Jiah Cohen, after a tied score of 35 points. The decision, however, was later overturned due to a tie-break, sending the Korean pair to the final.

“We learned about the change at the top of the chairlift,” McLarnon shared. “Despite the sudden change, we remained calm and focused on our performance.”

USA coach Freddy Mooney shed light on the confusion. “The tie-break process was intense. It went through three stages – turns, air, and then the winner of the second heat, which was won by the Korean athlete.”

Cohen expressed his gratitude for the team's ability to maintain focus amidst the confusion, leading to a triumphant bronze medal win in the 'small final' against Japan.

“I'm overjoyed,” Cohen said. “I can't wait to share this excitement with my friends and family back home.”

The YOG moguls action continues on Saturday with the individual dual moguls event. The women's competition is set to commence at 10:30, followed by the men's event at 13:30, promising another exciting day of mogul skiing at its finest.
