It was a thrilling night under the lights for another Dual Moguls competition on the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup tour in Val St. Come, Canada. The raucous crowd was bumping until the end as they cheered on hometown hero Mikael Kingsbury (CAN).

The moguls legend dominated the night on his way to the top of podium. It caps off a perfect weekend for the Canadian in front of the home crowd after winning the individual event on Friday. It was clear he wanted this one a bit more.

“It is amazing. At the top of every round, especially the last one, I could hear the crowd. I really, really wanted to win that one. It was a crazy night of duals, it was super fast. I am glad I won. It is tough to find the words but to do it back-to-back at home is unreal,”Kingsbury said.

It was a tough battle to wrap up the top spot in the big final. Kingsbury squared off his good friend and frequent competitor Benjamin Cavet (FRA). The win gives Kingsbury a 232-205 point lead over Cavet in the dual moguls crystal globe race.

“Ben is my good friend. I have so much respect for that guy. It is rare to do it but we went up in the chair together for the final run and we were just chatting about random stuff so yeah it is awesome. I know he wanted to win that one and grab the yellow bib but it was a good fight. It is always fun to compete with a guy you respect a lot,” Kingsbury said.

The win gives Kingsbury 96 career World Cup wins. He moves one step closer to the century mark, but who's counting. Well Kingsbury might be.

“Yeah I would love to get to 100. We are getting closer but yeah I just take it one race at a time. We are going to Deer Valley for a chance to get to 97 so I know I will get there. Hopefully when I do, FIS will have a nice present or something, maybe a Rolex. It would be nice, eh?”Kingsbury said.

It was the 21st win in Canada for Kingsbury who was noticeably amped after winning, pumping his fists before topping the podium.

Cavet settled for second place for the second time this season in the dual moguls. It is his fourth overall podium of the season.

Nick Page rounded out the podium with a win in the small final. It was his second this season and seventh of his World Cup career. Filip Gravenfors (SWE) continued his solid season with a fourth place finish.

Kauf rules the duals once again

On the women’s side Jaelin Kauf (USA) brought home the glory for the United States. It was a night full of shocking results and dramatic finishes as Kauf weathered the storm and freezing temperatures to top the podium.

Kauf put down smooth runs all evening and benefited from a DNF from Anastassiya Gorodko (KAZ) in the big final.

“This was super fun tonight. I saw (Gorodko) blow out in the middle unfortunately but she definitely had me on my toes tonight,” Kauff said.

The American has won two of the three dual moguls races this season with a second-place finish in the other. The Olympic silver medalist holds a 60-point lead in the race for the dual moguls crystal globe.

Jaelin Kauf (USA) and Mikael Kingsbury (USA) hold the yellow bibs as dual moguls leaders.

It was redemption for Kauf after a second place in the individual on Friday. She now has podiumed in six of eight events this season.

Gorodko pulled off a stunning finish for second place. It is the first career World Cup podium for the 19-year-old who shocked the field with an upset of the mighty Perrine Laffont (FRA) in the semifinals.

Laffont ended with the final podium spot. She has only missed the podium once this season and moves her World Cup career total to 61. Olivia Giaccio provided another strong showing for Team USA with a fourth place finish after a podium on Friday.

The FIS Freestyle World Cup moves West to Utah. Deer Valley will host moguls, aerials and dual moguls events February 6-8.
