New era for FIS Freestyle Asian Cup
Jan 16, 2025·FreestyleThe FIS Freestyle Asian Cup is entering a new era of growth and stability with Stephen Fearing now leading as the Asian Cup Coordinator. After facing challenges with consistency in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the series is regaining its footing with renewed interest from organizers and an expanding calendar of events.
The 2024/25 season is already off to a strong start, with two competitions successfully held. Beida Lake Ski Resort in China hosted the first events of the season on January 7, featuring aerials competitions for both men and women. A week later, Almaty, Kazakhstan, welcomed athletes on January 14 for another aerials event. Almaty also recently hosted the Junior World Championships, cementing its reputation as a premier freestyle skiing destination.
The action continues in February and March with three key stops. On February 13-14, 2025, O2 Resort in South Korea will host two moguls events for men and women, followed by Sapporo Bankei in Japan, which will feature another moguls competition on March 1-2, 2025. The season will conclude at Taira Ski Resort, also in Japan, with back-to-back moguls events taking place from March 7-9, 2025.
With an increasing number of competitions and organizers eager to join the circuit, the FIS Freestyle Asian Cup is poised for a successful comeback this season.
