All FIS Development activities are funded by the World Championships fees while the International Olympic Committee together with the International Paralympic Committee provide additional support to the FIS Development Department and respective programmes.

The FIS Development Department is responsible for overseeing a wide range of development activities, including but not limited to training for athletes, coaching education, and the development of international technical referees. Additionally, the department provides support to NSAs with all membership-related matters.

The development activities are available for FIS Olympic and Paralympic disciplines. FIS Members can access the FIS development and Membership activities through dedicated hubs accessible on the FIS Extranet. All programmes are available to 1 vote and 2 vote Nations. Certain programs will also be available to 3 vote Nations, and specific availability information will be provided for each programme.

History

FIS Development Programme has a rich history being established 27 years ago following the decision by the 1996 FIS Congress in Christchurch (NZL). At that time the FIS Development programmes were called the “FIS Aid & Promotion Programme”.

15 years later, at the 2012 FIS Congress in Kangwonland (KOR), the FIS Council decided to connect the Aid & Promotion Programme with the FIS Solidarity Support and renamed it to the FIS Development Programme (FDP).
