Coaches’ education in Serbia
Apr 08, 2024·Inside FISIn collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coaches Education Programme and the International Ski Federation (FIS), the Serbian National Olympic Committee (NOC) and National Ski Association (NSA) successfully hosted an Alpine Skiing Coaches seminar. This event was made possible thanks to the support of IOC Olympic Solidarity.
A total of 30 participants attended the seminar, which was held under the guidance of Bostjan Anderlic, Head of Youth Programmes of the Ski Association of Slovenia, in Kopaonik, Serbia.
The educational sessions provided both on-snow and off-snow practical exercises, including video analysis sessions in the afternoon. The seminar focused on two main areas of expertise:
Theoretical and practical sessions on FIS Alpine Skiing technical disciplines, covering a wide range of training techniques tailored to junior categories, from U14-16 to U18-21, while also introducing fundamental concepts for senior categories. These sessions incorporated ample video and visual aids.
Theoretical and practical sessions on FIS Alpine Skiing speed disciplines, with a didactical approach to working with young racers and organizing "speed camps" for them. The focus was on setting up the venue with specific elements such as waves, jumps, traverses, camel jumps, turning points, start and finish areas.
To encourage active learning among participants and facilitate the application of theoretical knowledge, several on-snow sessions were conducted in smaller groups.
The seminar concluded with a session dedicated to race delivery. This included detailed discussions on the required positions and roles involved in races, such as trainers, members of the jury, referees, organizers, and course workers.
Finally, the dedication of all participating coaches deserves recognition, with each displaying a keen interest and eagerness to participate in similar courses in the future.
