Development: Inaugural Para Alpine Skiing Training Camp in Kaunertal
Jan 05, 2024·Inside FISThe FIS Development department recently organized the first-ever Para Alpine skiing dedicated training camp. This gathering brought together 16 participants from seven countries for a week of intensive training at the Kaunertal Gletscher in Austria, held from December 9th to 14th, 2023.
To maximize the benefits for participants, the camp was strategically scheduled back-to-back with the FIS Para competition. This allowed the athletes to test their skills in a competitive setting immediately following their training. This unique approach ensured a seamless transition from the camp to a valuable competition experience for all athletes.
The camp was conducted under the patronage of experienced coach Ralf Jegler, who boasts significant expertise in managing Para Alpine skiing programs.
Looking ahead, the next activity for Para Alpine skiing is a coaches' education program scheduled for April 2024.
