On the 27th April FIS together with the United Nations (UN) carried out a screening of the PLAY movie under the CineONU programme with the support of Right to Play and Pat Burgener.

The evening began with a brief introduction followed by the main event which was the screening of the PLAY movie. Those in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the documentary and congratulated the team on their work.

After the showing a panel discussion took place where FIS Bring Children to the Snow Coordinator - Andrew Cholinski, Right to Play Country Director of Lebanon - Antoine Karem and UN Human Rights Officer - Allegra Franchetti answered questions from the UN but also the audience. The panel discussion explored some key topics such as integration of women, athletes support in such projects and what are the long term plans for PLAY.

However one key moment was brough by Allegra Franchetti who highlighted that a childs right to play is clearly defined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Convention on the Rights of the Child is the most widely ratified human rights treaty in the world with all UN member states except for the United States having ratified the Convention in 1992.

The PLAY movie now travels to Lausanne where on the 24th May a showing will be conducted together the IOC at the IOC Museum. Like the CineONU showing, entrance will be free for all members of the public.

FIS would like to thank the UN for hosting the evening and Right to Play and Pat Burgener for their continued support in the PLAY project.
