Thank you letter from FIS President and Secretary General
May 26, 2023·Inside FISDear friends and colleagues,
It was great to get the FIS family together yesterday for the 54th International Ski Congress. The rotation dictated that we met online this year, and with many amendments of the Statutes we enjoyed a productive and important meeting that paved the way for pursuing our goals. Together we celebrated an exceptional season and looked ahead at our exciting future.
Our central take-away from the Congress was optimism. We have already come very far with our plans and reforms, and together we are confident that we are on the right track towards a successful and bright future.
On sustainability, we are pressing ahead towards our goal of halving our emissions by 2030 and cementing our status as a Climate Positive international sports federation. Control of our own destiny is imperative, and a critical step will be the centralization of media and marketing rights management. Increasing the prize money for our athletes and the distributions to our NSAs are key priorities. We will work tirelessly to maximise all our opportunities for growth so that our talented champions get the rewards they richly deserve.
Each NSA is equally special within FIS – and this Congress showed a heartening level of enthusiasm from across the world. It reinforced our clear mandate to stand up for our values and follow our strategic priorities. We were clear that all our disciplines must be fully supported, with all our member federations backed in every way possible. These are principles we will always protect.
We want to thank all those who took part for helping to deliver a successful Congress. Thank you for your confidence in our leadership. Everything is possible, so let’s stay on track to take snow sports to the next level.
Kind regards,
Johan Eliasch and Michel Vion
