FIS Alpine Training Camp in Argentina: elevating talent in ideal winter conditions
Aug 21, 2024·Inside FISThis year, the FIS Development Programme Alpine Training Camp was once again held in El Bolsón - Perito Moreno, Argentina. The event benefited from deep winter temperatures and excellent snow conditions, creating an ideal environment for training. Approximately 40 athletes and coaches from various national federations, including ALB, ARG, BRA, CHI, CYP, EST, GRE, HUN, IRL, ISL, KOS, LBN, LTU, SRB, and SVK, participated in the camp.
For the first time, FIS doubled the quotas for South American countries, allowing more athletes from the region to take part. The FIS Development Department remains committed to enhancing operations and providing continued support for athletes and coaches in the future.
Over the course of three weeks, participants engaged in intensive training sessions, focusing on slalom and giant slalom. Alongside their on-snow training, they also conducted dryland training exercises and learned essential ski preparation techniques.
During the last week, the athletes competed in four FIS Slalom races, delivering outstanding performances. They secured victories in three of the four races, along with several other top finishes, showcasing the high level of preparation and skill honed during the camp.
Beyond the rigorous training and competitions, the camp provided an excellent opportunity for participants to forge new friendships, share experiences, and exchange ideas. The atmosphere fostered a strong sense of camaraderie and enjoyment, contributing to the overall success and memorable experience of the event.
The FIS Development Programme Alpine Training Camp in El Bolsón - Perito Moreno once again proved to be a crucial platform for developing young ski talent and preparing them for the upcoming winter season.
