FIS mourns the tragic loss of Sophie Hediger

There are no words to describe the sadness and pain caused by such a tragic loss. On behalf of the worldwide snow sports family, FIS can only join Swiss Ski, president Urs Lehmann, and the entire Swiss snow sports community in mourning.
Sophie Hediger passed away on Monday, 23 December, victim of an avalanche in Arosa. She was 26 years old.
Sophie was a proud member of Switzerland’s Snowboard Cross team and a beloved figure across the FIS World Cup tour. In 2022, she reached the apex of any athlete’s career: the Winter Olympic Games.
The FIS family stands by Sophie’s family, friends, and loved ones in honoring her memory – today and always.
