Sustainability in focus: schedule announced for FIS Seminar 2025
Apr 24, 2025·Inside FISFIS is delighted to reveal further details about the seminar on Bridging the Gaps: Building Inclusive Sports Leadership Together – Edition 2 which is being held in Vilamoura, Portugal, on Monday 5 May 2025.
The FIS Seminar 2025 will bring together National Ski Associations to highlight Nature and Biodiversity Protection and Restoration amid increasing urgency for environmental sustainability in which sports organizations play a crucial role.
FIS Secretary General Michel Vion will be joined by Sustainability Director Susanna Sieff as well as expert contributors from the Prince Albert of Monaco II Foundation, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and the Universities of Innsbruck and Aberystwyth.
FIS Implementation Manager David Frid and Education Manager Cornelia Blank will also share specialist knowledge.
The one-day event at the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura Algarve Resort will be opened at 09:30 by Michel Vion followed by inspirational speeches and presentations on ‘Coexistence between Winter Sport and Nature’ and ‘Mapping Relations with Nature’.
After a Lunchtime Lab, FIS Director for Development Programmes Dimitrije Lazarovski will turn the spotlight on the third edition of the FIS Seminars.
The seminar wraps up with the presentation of the Nature Protection and Restoration Award, which recognizes pioneering environmental conservation projects in snow sports.
