Franz Steinle
Franz Steinle (GER) has been President of the German Ski Federation since 2013. Prior to that, he was Vice President of the Federation between 2005- 2013. One year later, he was appointed spokesman of the Winter Sports Association in the German Olympic Sports Federation. Since 2007, he has been member of the Law Commission of the German NADA, and since 2018, member of the IBU Executive Board.
Within FIS, he has been member of the Legal and Safety Committee since 2011. For the Nordic World Championships 2021 in Oberstdorf, he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Organizing Committee.
Steinle has a wealth of experience in ski sports, among other things he was formerly a coach for more than 20 years in cross-country and Alpine skiing.
Steinle was a supreme judge as President of the Supreme Court of Appeal in Stuttgart until his retirement in 2017. Before that, he was President of the District Court of Stuttgart. Franz Steinle is married with two sons. He lives in Ravensburg, in southern Germany. In his spare time, he likes Alpine and cross-country skiing, cycling and running. He is also honorary member of the supervisory board of a large social enterprise taking responsibility for elderly and disabled people.
He was elected to the FIS Council in June 2021.
