53rd International Ski Congress 2022 - Milan (ITA)
The 53rd International Ski Congress was staged a reduced format, with one delegate of each Full Member Association beeing present in Milan (ITA) and the other delegates joining online.
The Congress took place from May 25-26 at the Allianz Tower on the 47th Floor. On the 25th, the World Ski Championship candidates presented their bids to the FIS Council and the winners were announced at a Gala Dinner evening.
Oberstdorf (GER) - Ski Flying, Montafon (AUT) - SB/FS/FK, Falun (SWE) - Nordic, Crans Montana (SUI) - Alpine were all exelcted to host the 2026 and 2027 World Championships.
May 26th featured the General Assembly. The major decisions from the General Assmebly included fomally changing the name of FIS to the International Ski and Snowboard Federation and taking over the governance of Para Snow sports from the IPC.
Additionally, FIS President Johan Eliasch was re-elected for a your-year term. The FIS Counil was also elected for y four-year term with the gender and small nation quota rules in place for the first time since ths FIS Statutes were passed at the 2021 Extraordinary Congress.
