Akito Watabe held on to this great jumping shape from Chaux-Neuve and won the PCR for the TRIPLE in Seefeld today. 107.5 metres (134.6 p.) were the longest jump of the day  and gave Watabe a head start of 6 seconds on Norway’s Jarl Riiber, who had landed at 105.5 metres. Just 0.1 points behind and starting at the same time would be Riiber’s teammate Jan Schmid who jumped 106 metres.

Should the PCR have to be used on the following three days, Yoshito Watabe would start his race two seconds after Schmid and Riiber. Fast skiers Jørgen Graabak and Fabian Rießle set themselves up promisingly with 103 and 102 metres and would have to contend with time advantages of 10 and 26 seconds only. The Top Ten were completed by Lukas Klapfer, Franz-Josef Rehrl, Szczepan Kupczak and Go Yamamoto.

Four-time TRIPLE winner Eric Frenzel ranked 20th with a time behind of 56 seconds. In general, the field was quite closely together due to the smaller jumping hill with the first 20 athletes starting within the first minute of the race. As the TRIPLE follows other rules than the rest of the World Cup, all athletes will be allowed to start in the first event tomorrow.
