Can anyone beat him or will "Mr. Seefeld" triumph again? The Nordic Combined TRIPLE goes into its fourth edition and the big question on everyone’s mind will probably be if the German team can maintain its perfect record of victories in individual events or if somebody can end their winning streak.

With the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships 2019 coming up in Seefeld, first changes will already be visible on the cross-country track this year. Some parts are modified, some will be skied in a different direction compared to the previous years, including the downhill with the "Willi Denifl turn" which will be an uphill this year. The spectators on location will be entertained at the highest level as the athletes pass the stadium twice on each 2.5 km lap.

But event with all changes, World Cup leader and dominator Eric Frenzel is and remains the huge favourite. He loves the venue in Seefeld and has proven to be close to unbeatable in the last couple of years - even against massive odds as Japan’s Akito Watabe had to discover in the snowstorm of last year’s last cross-country race.

Norwegian jumping sensation Jarl Riiber has thrown his hat in the ring on the jumping hill and might be able to carry an advantage to the finish in the short 5 km opening Individual Gundersen event of the TRIPLE. Frenzel’s teammates Johannes Rydzek and Fabian Rießle have both managed to beat him in the normal 10 km Individual Gundersen events on the World Cup tour - can they repeat the feat in the second competition in Seefeld? And what will happen in the final 2 jumps and 15 kilometres of cross-country skiing on Sunday?

200 World Cup points for the winner and the coveted TRIPLE trophy  are some more incentives for potential TRIPLE champions, so the only definitive answer that can be given right now is that the TRIPLE  2017 will certainly feature the finest the ultimate winter athletes of Nordic Combined have to offer.
