Espen ANDERSEN
Aug 31, 2018·Nordic CombinedNorwegian Espen Andersen made his World Cup debut at his home venue of Oslo in March 2013. Andersen, who is actually not related to the Nordic Combined athlete of the same name who started in the 80ies, has since then started in 39 individual World Cup competitions. He took his first points in Oslo one year later but only made the full transition to a World Cup athlete in the season of 2016/17, which can also be considered this breakthrough season.
With stable, good jumping results and a good effort on the cross-country tracks, Andersen ascended from a wanderer between Continental and World Cups to the best Norwegian athlete over large parts of the season. He collected five Top Ten results, among them one fourth place in Val di Fiemme, and won a Team Sprint together with Jørgen Graabak at the same venue. Andersen was part of the World Championship team in Lahti 2017, where he also finished tenth on the large hill. At the end of the season, he was rewarded with the 15th place in the overall standings.
Andersen lives in Oslo.
