François Braud is another music enthusiast among the Nordic Combined athletes. The Frenchman from Sallanches likes to play the drums and also spends quite some time on a bike or motorcycle in his leisure time. He is studying Communication Technology at the I.U.T. Annecy.

When he was seven years old, he wanted to test the jumping hill in La Houche and his passion for ski jumping was born. At the same time, François comes from a family of active skiers and his brother Guillaume has even been a member of the French national team in cross-country skiing.

Braud, who describes himself as goal-oriented, idiosnyncratic and demanding with himself, has been on the French national team for World Championships or Olympic Games since 2009. He had his first World Cup start in Kuusamo in 2005 and has achieved quite a number of podium results since then, at first mainly in team and Team Sprint events. He achieved his first individual podium in Oslo in 2014

His biggest successes include the team gold medal at the World Championships in Val di Fiemme in 2013 and the Team Sprint gold at the World Championships in Falun. The 2015 World Championships also saw Braud ascending to an athlete to watch out for in his own right when he won the silver medal in the individual event on the large hill. He continued with an individual bronze medal at the World Championships in Lahti in 2017.
