Italy’s Armin Bauer retires

After 16 years on the Nordic Combined World and Continental Cup circuits, Italian Armin Bauer has called it quits: the 28-year-old ended his active career, as he announced on his social media channels.

Between 2002 and 2018, Bauer took part in 82 World Cup events, started at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec, Oslo, Val di Fiemme, Falun and Lahti as well as the Olympic Games in Vancouver and Sochi. His biggest successes were eighth places in the World Cups of Chaikovskiy (RUS) in 2014 and Val di Fiemme (ITA) in 2015. He was 14th in the Olympic event from the normal hill in Sochi.

In the Continental Cup, he won one event in Høydalsmo in 2014 and stood on the podium in Soldier Hollow/Utah Olympic Park in 2015 and in Predazzo in 2012.
