Joergen GRAABAK

Jørgen Graabak lives in Melhus near Trondheim and starts for Byaasen IL, the same club as the great Magnus Moan. He debuted in the World Cup in Schonach in 2011 and was able to achieve his first podium in his tenth World Cup race in Seefeld in 2011. At the end of this season, he underlined his new strenght by becoming Norwegian Champion in the Team Sprint together with his teammate Magnus Moan and also in the Individual Gundersen competition in Voss.

Though claiming a place on the strong Norwegian team with three podium results in the beginning of the season 2013/14, Graabak was still without any major individual win until the Olympic Games in Sochi. The then 22-year-old, who had to sit out the first individual competition as reserve athlete, received a starting place in the second competition and won Olympic gold by beating out clubmate Magnus Moan and Germany's Fabian Rießle as well as all of the other competitiors, catapulting the himself from being a rising star of his discipline into one of the athletes to beat. The team event saw Graabak turning into a double Olympic gold medallist when he walked away with another precious metal after ensuring the victory of his team as the anchor leg skier.

The following winter of 2014/15 saw Graabak struggling to follow up his great results but the Norwegian bounced back, finally setting his first World Cup victory in Val di Fiemme, almost one year after his Olympic triumph in Sochi. In 2015/16, Graabak had his best season to date with 2 victories (one of them a home victory at Trondheim), one second place and two third ranks putting him on the fourth position of the World Cup overall this winter. The following winter proved to be a tough one for Graabak, who could only follow up with two individual podiums and a Team Sprint victory.
