Klingenthal with its 8.000 inhabitants is a town in the Vogtland area of Eastern Germany, situated directly on the border to the Czech Republic and the Czech town of Kraslice. Klingenthal was already a national centre for winter sports during DGR time and still is today, not only since the hypermodern Vogtlandarena ski jumping stadium was opened in 2006.
The venue
The 2,5 km cross-country course also leads through the stadium. With an ice track and low altitude during the flight and usually fair conditions the HS 140 facility is very popular. Many teams come to Klingenthal to train and the stadium with room for 30.000 spectators offers athletes and fans enough atmosphere and space to enjoy the World Cup.
