Magnus KROG

Magnus Krog had his first competition in the World Cup in Trondheim in 2008 but spent more time in the Continental Cup before his breakthrough season in 2011/12 when he managed to win his first World Cup race in Kuusamo, Finland. Maybe Magnus Krog would still not be among the top Norwegian athletes, had he not suffered from mononucleosis some years ago and found back to an amazing shape in cross-country afterwards, developing into one of the most proficient and smart skiers of the field.

He also improved in the ski jumping part and conquered his place on the Norwegian team in 2011 only to be stopped by a crash in Oberstdorf. Magnus broke his shoulder and missed a large part of the season. He still managed to earn a Top 30 result in the overall World Cup. Back on track after his injury, he claimed his first international medal at the World Championships in Val di Fiemme in 2013 when he won silver with the Norwegian team.

Magnus, who really likes the venue of Kuusamo, had a great season in 2013/14 when he not only claimed two more podiums in the Finnish venue but also entered the top three ranks in Lillehammer and Chaux-Neuve but also crowned his season with an individual Olympic bronze medal in Sochi. The winter of 2015/16 had Krog wearing the yellow bib at the beginning of the season after a second career-victory in Lillehammer but saw him struggling after a long competition break in January. Towards the end of the year, he got back on the path of success and delivered one more victory in Val di Fiemme.

Born in Høydalsmo and living in Trondheim, Magnus Krog can be described as modest and calm and likes to skateboard when he is not training or competing. He also likes to spend time with fishing or alpine or telemark skiing. When he goes to work, to the hill or the track, he has a competitive drive that urges him to improve in all fields, be it leisure time activites or his athletic career.
