When Marjan Jelenko from Zrece, Slovenia, stepped into the spotlight in the World Cup in the 2012/13-season, he did so at a very convenient moment for the Slovenian team which had been struggeling with mediocre results the seasons before. Suddenly, the 21-year-old who managed to win the Continental Cup as the first Slovenian athlete in the history of Nordic Combined before, transformed into a Top 20 athlete, constantly performing on a top level, especially in regards to his ski jumping.

"It feels really good to be among the top athletes but it's also still kind of surprising to me", the quiet and collected Jelenko said, asked after his "new" role in this winter. But with his World Cup debut only in 2009 and, by then, only 21 World Cup competitions under his belt, this only illustrated his fast transformation into an athlete to be reckoned with.

In his spare time, the Slovenian likes basketball to relax and take his mind off from Nordic Combined for some time. During hard training camps, he usually relaxes on my computer as while watching films or listening to good music and playing games.
