In a tight nailbiter of a finish, Austria’s Lisa Hirner has taken the victory of the second OPA Alpencup Nordic Combined event for ladies in the summer of 2018. The Austrian crossed the finish line only 0.7 and 1.1 seconds respectively ahead of German duo Emilia Görlich and Sophia Maurus.

Hirner had started the roller-ski race from the pole position after winning the jumping event with a total of 107.7 points. She had a 10-second head start on Slovenia’s Silva Vrbic (104.5 points) and 18 seconds on Maurus but the race turned into a tight affair. Emilia Görlich was the fastest woman on the track, battling a 41-second disadvantage which she managed to close almost completely. In the end, she beat out teammate Maurus for the second place but Hirner narrowly transferred her advantage across the finish line.

Ranks four went to Slovenia’s Ema Volavsek (+7.8) and Klingenthal winner Daniela Dejori finished fifth and Johanna Bassani completed a strong Austrian team performance on rank six.
