Paul GERSTGRASER
Aug 31, 2018·Nordic CombinedAustria's Paul Gerstgraser gave his World Cup debut in Ruka (FIN) in 2014 but was limited to a few starts on the highest level in this first World Cup season. First successes came at the Junior World Championships in Liberec in 2013, where Gerstgraser earned a silver medal with the team and in Almaty in 2015, where Gerstgraser captured and individual silver medal, which gave him a personal start right for the World Cup afterwards. He also added the team gold to his merit list at this edition of the FIS Nordic Junior World Championships.
While performing decently in his first full World Cup season in 2016/17, including several top 20 and one Top Ten rank, Gerstgraser's big moment came at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2017, when he secured a bronze medal for his team as the final skier, famously staying cool and beating Finnish legend Hannu Manninen in a smart tactical race.
Besides Nordic Combined, Gerstgraser enjoys other sports, golf and travelling.
