General Information

Ramsau am Dachstein is located on an elevated plateau between the Dachstein range and the Enns valley in the state of Styria, Austria. The town with its 2.700 inhabitants is famous for its excellent winter sports facilities, a fact that the FIS recognized with awarding the 1999 FIS Nordic Ski World Championships to the region. In the course of the 20th century, several ski jumps were erected in Ramsau. In addition to that, Ramsau also hosts the base station of a cable car which goes up to the Dachstein glacier, which offers a year-round resort for Alpine skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing.

The venue

Ramsau am Dachstein is a traditional Nordic Combined venue, the HS 98 hill, which was constructed in 1995, is currently not used for World Cups of the ski jumpers. Since 1995/96, Ramsau has been an annual fixed point on the Nordic Combined calendar. The cross-country track leads through stadium, which is located only several hundred metres next to the hill, thrice in the course of a race.
