Russian NC season closes with nationals at Nizhny Tagil
Aug 31, 2018·Nordic CombinedThe Russian national championships 2017 in Nordic Combined were held on the normal hill in Nizhny Tagil in the categories “men”, “men’s team event” and “ladies”, added by one large hill individual competition and a Team Sprint for men on the HS 134 large hill.
The first event of the Russian Nordic Combined Championship in Nizhny Tagil, a jump from the normal hill and 10 km of Gundersen style racing, was won by Ernest Yahin (Bashkortostan). Yahin finished with a time of 28:33.0 and beat runner-up Viacheslav Barkov by 29.0 seconds. The third places went to Samir Mastiev (Sverdlovsk region), who finished one minute and five seconds after Yahin.
An event for ladies was also held on the normal hill and with a Gundersen 5 km race. Stefania Nadymova from the Perm region was the best, finishing the 5 km in 19:55.0 after having secured a one minute and 50 second head start in the ski jumping part already. The second place went to Alexandra Glazunova (St. Petersburg), +2:19.0. The bronze medal was won by Svetlana Gladikova (Perm region), finishing two minutes and 41 seconds after the winner. In total, eight female athletes were on start.
The team of the Moscow region, (Nikita Oks, Timofey Borisov, Konstantin Abramov and Denis Agunov) won the gold medal in the team event. The second place went to the team of St. Petersburg (Ivan Konoplev, Alexander Pashayev, Vitaly Ivanov, Alexey Seregin) with a delay only five seconds at the finish line. The third rank went to the team of Tatarstan (Dmitry Nagovitsyn, Ivan Ponomarev, Niyaz Nabeev, Ivan Panin), who finished 47 seconds after the winners from Moscow.
The Team Sprint victory went to the duo of Niaz Nabeev and Ivan Panin (Tatarstan). The two finished 10 seconds ahead of runners up and jumping winners Konstantin Abramov and Timofey Borisov. 23 seconds of head start were not enough to hold Nabeev and Panin at bay on the 2x 7.5 km track and the third-fastest cross-country time of 36:31.0 was enough to capture the title in the end. The bronze went to Aleksander Pashaev and Vitalii Ivanov, who started for St. Petersburg. They finished 30 seconds after the winners, narrowly beating out Ernest Yahin and Damir Hinsertdinov from the Bashkortostan region.
