Starting shot for JWSC in Kandersteg (SUI)

The FIS Nordic Junior World Championships in Kandersteg, Switzerland are underway and already the first event day marks an imporant mile stone for the discipline of Nordic Combined.

For the first time, a Ladies’ Nordic Combined test event will be held at Junior World Championship level. 33 female athletes from 13 nations, including the big Nordic Combined nations of Germany, Norway, Austria and Japan but also smaller nations like the USA, Italy, Estonia, Slovenia, Poland or the Netherlands are represented in the field. The ladies will jump from a HS 74 metre hill and ski 5 km. Medals will not be awarded yet this year, as the event is still categorised as a test event. You can find the start list here

For the men, the usual program, comprised of three events will be held also in Kandersteg. Medals can be won in a “normal” one jump 10 km Individual Gundersen event on the 30th of January, a Team Event on the 1st of February and a one jump, 5 km Individual Gundersen Sprint on February, 3rd.
