The large hill event - facts and figures
Aug 31, 2018·Nordic CombinedJørgen Graabak (NOR) is aiming to defend his Olympic title in the individual Gundersen large hill/10km, which is held on Tuesday 20 February at the Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre and Alpensia Cross-Country Centre.
Defending champion GRAABAK is hoping to become the first multiple gold medallist in this event at the Olympic Winter Games.
GRAABAK, Bernhard Gruber (AUT) and Fabian Rießle (GER) could join Magnus Hovdal MOAN (NOR) and Felix GOTTWALD (AUT) on a record two Olympic medals in this event.
Eric FRENZEL (GER) could become the second athlete to win individual gold in both the normal hill and large hill in a single edition of the Olympic Winter Games after Samppa LAJUNEN (FIN), who won both events in Salt Lake City in 2002.
FRENZEL and GRAABAK could join LAJUNEN, Ulrich WEHLING (GER) and Felix GOTTWALD (AUT) on a record three Olympic gold medals in Nordic combined.

Akito WATABE (JPN) took individual silver in the normal hill in 2014 and on Wednesday 14 February and could become the second non-European athlete to claim an Olympic medal in both the normal hill and the large hill after Johnny SPILLANE (USA), who collected silver in both events in 2010.
WATABE can equal compatriot Takanori KONO on a record three medals in Nordic combined by Asian athletes.
WATABE can also equal the Japanese record of three Olympic Winter Games medals in individual events, held by speed skater Hiroyasu SHIMIZU (JPN).
