Tomas Portyk's journey on the Nordic Combined World Cup tour began in 2011 when the Czech made his debut in Chaux-Neuve. One year later, Portyk made history by winning the first-ever Nordic Combined gold medal at the Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck. His talent clearly lying in ski jumping, Portyk has started in 34 World Cup competitions since 2011 and cracked the Top Ten for the first time with a tenth rank in the Individual Gundersen event in Ramsau am Dachstein in 2015.

Steadily improving also in the cross-country part, the Czech youngster had his best season in the same winter, 2015/16 in which he finishe on the 26th position in the World Cup overall standings. Still eligible to start in the Junior World Championships, he brought home a gold medal from Rasnov 2016 to top off a great season.

In his spare time, Portyk likes to play football and swimming.
