Youth Cup: Nähring, Hansen, Orset and Ottesen win

The first day of the FIS Youth Cup Finals in Trondheim had long jumps, fast races, a lot of action and four happy winners in the categories Youth I Girls, Youth II Girls, Youth I boys and Youth II boys.
Marie Nähring from Germany won the girls I category and the all girls race with a skiing time of 9:03 minutes for the 3 km distance, starting into the race from position seven with a delay of 50 seconds. Thea Minyan Bjørseth had taken the jumping win but was only able to salvage a fourth place, finishing 26 seconds after the winner. The podium results went to Italian Alpen Cup overall winner Annika Sieff (+0:17) and Austria’s Lisa Hirner, who beat Minyan Bjørseth by just one second.
In the girls II category, Estonia’s Annemarii Bendi went out on the track first after a jump of 60 metres but had to concede defeat to Gyda Westvold Hansen, who skied the fastest time of 9:31 is this category. This meant a victory by 29 seconds for the Norwegian. Marte Leinan Lund completed the podium on rank three, finishing 35 seconds after the winner.
The younger boys also had a close fight for the podium position but also here, a Norwegian triumphed in the end: Johan Fredriksen Orset was the fastest man on the track after jumping to rank six in the jumping event. Jumping winner Sebastian Schwarz had to let Orset and also runners-up Stefano Radovan and Iacopo Bortolas from Italy pass, so that the podium had one Norwegian and a double Italian look with Bortolas finishing 13 seconds after Orset, who needed 12 minutes for the 4.5 km distance. Radovan crossed the finish line 28 seconds after the winner.
Markkus Alter from Estonia won the jumping event of the older boys with a jump of 62.5 metres but could not transform this result into a podium position in the end. The winner, Emil Ottesen from Norway started from position three and needed 11:56 to reach the finish line. Also this podium held two nations only as ranks two and three went to two Polish athletes: Andrzej Szczechowicz was second and Piotr Kudzia finished third, 12 and 17 seconds behind the winner.
