Annemarii Bendi and Kristjan Ilves Estonian Champions 2019

Annemarii Bendi and Kristjan Ilves took the gold medals at the Estonian national championshipsin Otepää on the past weekend.

With jumps pf 83 and 84 metres, both Bendi and Ilves lead their respective races from the pole position. Bendi was pursued by Triinu Hausenberg, who started 10 seconds after her after an 82.5 metre jump and younger teammates Careena Roomets and Stella Kivi, who had to contend with bigger time gaps of over four minutes at the start already.

In the race, Bendi skied the fastest time by far and completed the five kilometres in 18:51. Hausenberg finished two minutes and 23 seconds later. Stella Kivi beat out Careena Roomets for the bronze medal.

In the men’s race, Kristjan Ilves had to defend himself agains challenges from runner-up Markkus Alter (+0:20). Fastest man on the 10 km track was Ilves’ s brother Andreas, who unfortunately was not able to make up much of his two minute and 26 time difference in the race and finished two minutes and 18 seconds after the winner. However, he overtook Markkus Alter, Robert Lee and Ivo Niklas Hermanson to take the silver medal. Bronze went to Alter (+3:33).
